He moved to Delhi at the age of 25, where he began working in the cardiology division of the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi. His life here was altered by a specific experience, which also altered his perspective on how cardiac patients should be treated. He began promoting preventative or minimally invasive cardiology.

After earning his MD in 1989 from King Georges Medical College in Lucknow, he began a research project to cure heart patients without the use of surgery.

after MD He served as a Senior Resident and Assistant Professor at the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for six years (1989-1995). He received training in yoga treatment as well.

His studies at the AIIMS demonstrated that not only could heart patients prevent coronary heart disease, but they could also treat or even reverse the condition.

During this time, Dr. Chhajer also received training from Dr. Dean Ornish, who developed the lifestyle treatment in the USA.

Dr. Bimal Chhajer left AIIMS in 1995 and began training and treating heart patients in Delhi using his new therapy, named "SAAOL" Science And Art Of Living, based on his prior research.

Dr. Chhajer began by opening a second clinic in Mumbai in 1996 before branching out to Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. These were followed by the establishment of Saaol Centres across the nation.

2009 saw the opening of Saaols first international centre in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Kathmandu, Nepal, a year later. Dr. Chhajer currently operates 110 centres throughout India and the subcontinent. The largest network of non-invasive cardiology clinics in the world is presently Saaol Heart Centre.

The Dr. Chhajer-developed "Saaol Heart Programme" is now a well-known method of treating heart disease that also includes teaching patients yoga, meditation, zero-oil cooking, stress reduction techniques, physical activity, and medical information.

About 70 books by Dr. Chhajer have been written for cardiac patients and those interested in their health. His many lectures are also available on DVD, the Internet, and YouTube.
